WEEK 31 - JewelVerse: Questions from the Unstable Branch AMAs

Week 31, 21 more weeks to go. With the beta reads out and plans for other pieces underway, I thought it’ll be fun to have an “Ask Me Anything” / AMA for the Unstable Branch and all its projects. And these were the main categories of questions asked.

Caveat: Some of these questions have been asked a few times over some period of time (since the launches of Unstable Foundations and Unstable Directions). Have fun!

What is this Unstable Branch?

This is the fictional universe containing the canon of Unstable Foundations, Unstable Directions, and their affiliations and sequels.

Madeline is a student in computer science, moonlighting as a technician in cyber security and networks, somehow often finding herself in the midst of the business of artefacts, rumoured treasures, and the museum network. Also, she has just started embracing her ability to seamlessly communicate with building guardians - the ones she has met seemed nice so far. Nathaniel, her cousin, once a civil engineer on his way up, is now incarcerated for crimes he committed out of pure greed. Or was it?

Join these cousins on their journey to find their way out of this growing web of corporate greed, network codes, building spirits, undiscovered treasures, and conspiracy.

Madeline and Nathaniel are cousins - what is their relationship like?

Like close siblings =)

Madeline is an only child and Nathaniel is the eldest son of three boys. While his two younger brothers could get away with a lot more, he took it upon himself to protect his maternal cousin, Madeline, while the cousins grew up together. She, on the other hand, gave him the time of day for the intellectual pursuits his brothers were barely interested in.

In short, if either one were in a bind, the other would come running to get them out of it.

Who is Morganite? Really?

She’s a mysterious (for now) ally that has taken an interest in protecting Madeline from her own curiosity and Nathaniel from his own impulsiveness. Given how she has already reached out to the cousins, it’s likely she’s a well-connected person who has been assigned to look out for these two.
